Black and White Stripes with Mustard

by Heather

I got sick with the 12-hour stomach flu exactly seven days ago.
It's called the 12-hour flu but it makes you feel puny for seven days.
The good news is that I lost almost five pounds;
the bad news is that just my feet look thinner.
I missed several fun events this past week because of feeling lousy
but it gave me a healthy respect for those people who are battling illness on an on-going basis.
It drives home the point that if you have your health, you have everything.

Dressing for a quick shopping expedition today -- my first day of feeling myself again --
I wanted something easy and comfortable.
 Black and white peplum top, mustard patent leather belt -- Nordstrom's;
black denim crops -- Chico's;
white and mustard sunglasses -- Izod
 Mustard patent leather sandals -- Michael Kors;
black and mustard purse -- Kate Spade
 Love the striped lining of this purse!
 Mustard necklace -- Francesca's
Mustard crystal ring -- Swarovski store;
black and gold watch -- Michael Kors;
mustard and bling bracelet -- J Crew;
black and gold bangles -- Chico's

Hope those of you who are moms had a wonderful Mother's Day!
Wishing all of you a happy, healthy week!

Love,
Heather

  1. Heather, first off, sorry to hear you were under the weather for an enitre week. So glad to see you are now feeling better and able to get your shopping feet out and about (we do know you are the shopping Queen). Great outfit you put together and I'm with you on that Kate Spade purse, the attention to fun details of her designs makes it all worth the purchase.

    1. Thank you, Trina. Shopping always makes me feel better! I know what you mean about Kate Spade purses. She is the master of "fun" details.

  4. Sorry to hear you were not feeling well and glad you're better now. Another great outfit post. Can I ask how tall you are? I've been looking at the MK Hamilton bags, one of your favorites, but worry it seems too big for me. I'm just looking for some perspective. Thanks. I hope you had a great Mother's Day.

    1. Hi Patricia,
      Thank you for your kind remarks. I'm 5' 1 1/2" tall (or short). I'm almost always wearing high wedges or heels, though, so I may appear taller:) My husband is 6'3" (or 6'2" as he says he's shrinking)and we've been hoping since high school that I'd catch up. Didn't happen.

  5. Great looks, Heather! I had the same "12 hour flu" a few weeks ago, and you are so right - there's nothing 12-hour about the recovery. SO glad to see you feeling yourself again, and thanks for sharing your fab look with Visible Monday.

  6. So glad you are feeling better and, as usual, you look amazing! Yes, all it takes is not feeling well to appreciate feeling well! My hubbie is under the weather with an injury and it makes me appreciate my good health (finding some wood to knock on as I type!). Stay well, enjoy the shopping and fun events and stay cute!!!

    1. Thanks, Kim. Take care of yourself, too, while you're caring for your hubby. Mine was laid up for several months a couple of years ago with motorcycle injuries and I know what a toll it can take on the caregiver!

  8. So sorry your felt erpy, Baby! You look great now, and isn't that how it should end up? Lovely everything, as always. You remind me just a little of a Queen Bee ... every woman should cultivate that part of our personas!
