Minty Fresh

by Heather

Mint is a color I've admired from afar for several months but hadn't purchased anything in that hue until a mint-and-silver bracelet called my name...
Loft bracelet

and then a necklace...

Loft necklace

and then a mint lace top...
and then I found a mint scarf at the AZ Bike Week Cyclefest vendors...
and then mint nail polish at Target...
Not brave enough to try it out yet!

Isn't it amazing how that happens?

Once you've opened up your mind to a new idea (or color, in this case), you find examples of it everywhere.
Mmm, do I need a mint purse and perhaps mint shoes? I think a shopping trip is in order, don't you? Coach has a marvelous selection of mint bags and accessories online and there's a Coach store on my way home from work.
Oh, and I'll need some mint earrings, and maybe a ring in that color...
and if I'm getting all those accessories, shouldn't I have more than one piece of clothing that they match?
T-shirt from Bike Week vendor; orange leather jacket from Nordstrom's
And with what other colors can I wear mint?
I know it looks great with orange,

Coach mint crossbody bag; Chico's earrings; Alexis Bittar bangle; leather wrap bracelet from Maui

and black, and probably white and tan....grey will work, too...

Loft grey jacket; Target grey striped cami; scarf from Bike Week vendor
Michael Kors silver sandals with Coach bag and new scarf

Does your brain work like mine when it comes to fashion? I think it's like looking at a Mind Map (for all you teachers and students out there) with the color mint in the middle.
Loft lace top; WHBM black cami underneath; Fendi sunglasses
Ooh, let's tuck it in just a little bit in the front...
Marc Fisher platform sandals; new Coach crossbody bag

No mint shoes yet. The shoe people say that they're just beginning to get in their summer shoes so maybe there will be a pair out there for me sometime soon.
The Loft bracelet that started it all; new Coach leather wrap bracelet; silver bracelets and rings from various places

Right now, my affair with mint can only be classified as an infatuation. Will it become true love? Time will tell...

Have a wonderful, fun-filled week!
(and if you see any mint sandals, give me a ring, okay?)

Love,
Heather

  1. Mint-a-licious! I think I have had about 3 different shades of mint nail polish :) And I really like yours! I definitely go through phases of colors, but I'll always love blue and white stripes, I think! The others seem to come and go. I love all the mint you've bought and have a feeling I'll be seeing you in mint shoes soon!!!

    1. Thanks, Chloe. One of my favs has to be blue and white stripes, too. I think that's a classic! The mint may be just a passing phase for me :)

  2. I resisted this hue for a long time. Last year I bought a pair of mint earrings and I was hooked. A mint toned necklace came home with me from JCrew this weekend. I've added a couple of other items too. By the way went to Target and checked out those cardigans. I wanted the peach one like you had but did't have my size. Bought the navy with, guess what, mint flowers. Got many compliments when I wore it. Will keep checking for the peach one. Love all your mint pieces. Thanks for sharing. Xo Patricia.

    1. Thank you, Patricia. I'm going to have to go back to Target and check out the navy and mint cardi. Don't remember seeing it before but perhaps I didn't have mint on my mind?

  10. I think I'm going to sit down and write "If you give Miss Heather a mint bracelet, she will . . ." This post is so delightful and full of mint surprises. I also think we're getting a fun glimpse into your shopping hobby, and what fun that is. Every item is 'mint' for each other and its all wonderful. I love mint and orange together, its one of my all time favorite combo's. You really did well on your scarf buying trip, I'm so loving the little bird cage on that scarf.

    1. You're being very kind, Trina. My husband might call it a "shopping obsession." I'm trying to wean myself off the shopping by making up all sorts of rules for myself, but I keep breaking them. I guess that would be a post in itself :)

  12. I'm really liking lace this year, so I'm lovin' the top! And one of my favorite spring colors is peach/tangerine. I wouldn't have thought mint would go well with the orange, but it looks really cute together!

    1. Thanks, Ann. I went from disliking lace to loving it about two years ago. Not sure what changed other than seeing more of it around, but it is an integral part of my wardrobe now. Never say never, I guess.

  16. Lovely styling, Heather. Such rich combinations of lovely shades and textures. You combine these so well. And you look lovely in them!
But let me get this straight... you can pull of tangerine polish with aplomb, but worry about mint polish? Hmmmm. Have no fear, you'll look beautiful.

    1. Thank you, Jan. I guess I shouldn't be afraid of the mint, but it would be a very different look for me. I'll have to take the plunge and try it. I once did grey polish on my nails but that lasted only a day. Had to take it off -- was not a good look with my older skin :(
